Kameko (Kami) is a lovely, petite and ladylike adult cat (estimated around 9 years old). She is described as a dilute calico – all the beautiful colors of a calico, but muted down to a soft pale blend.
Kami is friendly and loving. She enjoys being brushed, held and cooed to. She will come and tell you when it is meal time and she is a good eater. Kami likes to stretch out on her side showing all of cottony fur on her underside and will look at you to see if you are noticing how cute she is. Any chance she gets; she will jump up on your lap to keep it warm.
Kami was relinquished by her owners to Chicago Animal Care and Control because she was “old”. Not heartbreaking enough, she was additionally in poor health. She had broken teeth and abscesses in her mouth causing her pain – and a dangerous high fever of 105. Kami had an ear infection, her eyes were runny, she was underweight and refused to eat. Her loving foster mom hand fed her daily with a syringe, gave her fluids, and administered ear and eye meds, in addition to the heavy antibiotics she needed to get well enough to undergo a much-needed dental procedure. Since we couldn’t be sure if she was already spayed, the doctor examined her more closely while she was under anesthesia for the dental procedure and determined that she had not yet been spayed. Not only did Kami have a uterus, the doctor found her to have a grave infection called pyometra. This is an all too common, life-threatening condition faced by many female cats who have never been spayed.
After a harrowing few weeks, today Kami is healthy and active. She has returned to her sweet, loving, and easy-going self. Kami gets along very easily with the other cats in her foster home. She is friendly and curious with all of them. She may be fine as an only cat, but seems to like to be around other feline friends. Kami wants to be adopted into a happy, loving home that will treat her with the kindness and respect that this sweet soul deserves.
She is already spayed, FIV/FeLV tested negative, Avid micro-chipped, de-wormed and has all necessary shots. She is ready to go to a loving home. Adoption fee is $125
