About Sawyer

Sawyer is a slender and petite (7 lbs.), grey male with a white ring around the tip of his tail and the cutest white ring around his right rear leg. We refer to it as his garter. If Sawyer were a human male, he’d be described as a gentle, soft spoken and easy going guy who goes with the flow. There is no sitting or lying down without Sawyer wanting to be a part of your space. He will lie in your lap and fall asleep or crawl up on your shoulder and hug your neck. When holding him in your arms, he buries himself as deeply as he can and burrows his nose into any crevice he can find. It’s hard to put this love bug down. Sawyer knows his name, is a good litter box user and gets along with other non-aggressive and easy going cats. He is ambivalent about the foster home’s dogs and shows no fear. He lets you know when it’s time to eat as he follows you around with a hopeful look.

It’s unbelievable how anyone who had him could let him get away. However, they did. He was found as a stray and turned into Animal Care and Control in Chicago. When we first rescued him, Sawyer was shy, much too thin, and refused to eat. Sawyer needed special attention to teach him to trust again. As we held him and reassured him that no one in his foster home would ever hurt him, he demonstrated one of the sweetest purrs in cat-dom. And once we found the right combination of food and treats, he perked up and began to gain weight.

He doesn’t mind the other pets in his foster home, and isn’t particularly drawn to them; however Sawyer has recently taken up wrestling, playing and running with a one year old kitten. This kitten plays hard and often Sawyer needs to put him in his place. Sawyer is very drawn to humans and will spend much of his day quietly trying to get some love from them. Given that information, we feel that the best home for him will have no young children and either no other pets, or only one other low-key cat or low-key, cat-savvy dog. The person who gets this little cutie is a lucky one indeed. Sawyer is a true gem.

He is already neutered, FIV/FeLV tested negative, Avid micro-chipped, de-wormed and has all necessary shots. He is ready to go to a loving home. Adoption fee is $125
