Shorty – 5 Year Old Male

Shorty is a sweet little guy with a short, sleek, all-black coat. At 5 years old, Shorty is past the playful kitten phase, but he can be engaged with the cat dancer. He’s also very curious when the other foster cats roll their jingly toys around; but he prefers not to join in. Shorty is easy going and chill, even at the vet. In fact, Shorty was such a charmer at his last exam that he even captured the vet’s heart. It’s pretty obvious that Shorty and his owner were buddies and probably took their meals together. He sits next to his foster mom’s chair while she is at the table eating – looking up with a hopeful face.

Shorty came to PPAH through a Craig’s List posting. His owner had died and the family was looking to re-home him. We contacted them immediately upon seeing the listing and advised what a dangerous proposition it is to post an animal on Craig’s List and to release it to anyone who indicates they are interested. The family agreed they’d rather Shorty go to a rescue where
interested parties are screened and interviewed.

Shorty is a lovable, carefree boy but he obviously has not been exposed to other cats. As laid back as he is, he tolerates them when they walk by him, but prefers not to engage with them. If they get anywhere near his food, he grumbles and they get the hint to get lost. He loves to be picked up and hugged by his foster mom. But if any other cats witness his loving, he jumps down
and runs.

Shorty would do well as a single cat in a home where his owners are as devoted to him and he will be to them. We are not certain about children. He has a cat friendly dog in his foster home and does not react one way or another to him.

Shorty has been neutered, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, received his microchip, rabies and FVRCP vaccines, 2 rounds of deworming and flea/ticks treatments. He is ready to go to a loving home.  Adoption fee is $125
