About Zen

Zen is a big hunk of brown tabby with the sweetest white feet. He’s 10 pounds and around 4 – 6 years old.  Zen likes to eat both wet and dry food, but is not sure which he likes best.  Being the gourmet gentleman he is, first he will have a nibble of dry, then he will have a nibble of wet, then he starts all over again.  He winds up with both bowls being absolutely clean.  Then it’s time to curl up on the nice soft couch, or in the family cat tree.  He loves to be scratched on top of his head and cooed to.  When hearing baby talk, he will roll over on his back and show his tummy.

Zen was relinquished to CACC by his owner. By the time he was brought to our attention and we rescued him, he was quite ill and was suffering from an upper respiratory infection and severe diarrhea.  As the days went by, and his foster mom nursed him back to health, Zen’s condition and temperament continued to improve. He really responded well to love and lots of sweet talk.

When his isolation period was up, he was allowed to roam all three floors of his foster home.  He did well with the household’s other cats, but is not one to interact much with them nor to play with toys.  Occasionally his attention can be caught with a cat dancer, but he loses interest quickly. He’d much rather lay on the top level of the cat tree, put his chin on the edge and watch the goings on in the room.

Zen does NOT like dogs and at the mere sight of the family dog, he begins to growl.  We have not exposed Zen to children, but our guess is he would be happiest in a home with one or two other low-key cats, no children and no dogs.  More of a supervisor, Zen will be a great companion to his people and other cats but is likely not a cat that will nuzzle in your face or like to be picked up and carried around like a baby.

He is already neutered, FIV/FeLV tested negative, Avid micro-chipped, de-wormed and has all necessary shots. He is ready to go to a loving home.  Adoption fee is $125
